Well I began by trying to make daily entries
about Ronan - too ambitious! So I will just try to make regular entries when
I have time or something exciting happens!
The time has really flown by (well, you can
imagine with a newborn how that might happen!)! Ronan is an absolutely lovely
baby, the sweetest little boy ever!!! We love him so much and are enjoying
every minute with him. In only seven weeks, so much has happened. Ronan already
recognizes not only his name but the word "milk" as well and a few
other words. He has begun babbling and has a few words he uses often (even
though we have no idea what they mean)! He is doing very well for holding
his head up longer and is a very curious baby always trying to see everything
(even when eating). Ronan finds his sister very entertaining (9 year olds
are so silly!) and is always smiling at Bella and we caught him laughing at
her today. Ronan nurses well and eats often. He is still a little unsure about
bath-time but is getting more used to it. Ronan smiles a lot now at his family
especially in the morning and when we are changing him. I have to say there
is nothing in the world more precious than your child smiling at you with
love in his/her eyes (no matter what age they are!)!
more to come...
Tuesday, April 3rd
Ronan has been doing lots of cooing and babbling;
he is really experimenting with his voice and it is so cute! He talks a fair
bit to Bella and even tried to sing with her one day!
Ronan's dance lessons have already begun.
He loves to move his arms and legs to music with Bella and also enjoys rocking
in Mama's arms to a little Latin music!!!
Ronan smiled at himself in the mirror the
other day; I think he agrees that he is as adorable as the rest of us find
him!!!
Thursday, April 12th
Ronan had his first immunization last week;
Ronan cried, Bella cried and Mommy cried...Boohoo.
Ronan is very long for a 21/2 month old baby,
I think he is going to be quite tall. The nurse at the health clinic said
she thinks he is going to be tall and lanky (should we bet that he will be
taller than Daddy by grade 7...).
Ronan is a charmer and likes to show off
his strength. When laying on the floor he will often grunt loudly while lifting
his arms (with fists clenched) and legs straight into the air. It is so adorable,
he looks very tough! Lately from this position he is trying to role over!
He has also started digging his heals into the ground and pushing himself
upward.
Ronan's first Easter! The Easter Bunny left
him a couple of baby toys and a Pooh Bear book in a lovely new blue basket!
Monday, May 7th, 2007
Ronan turned 3 months old on the last day
of April. He had his 3 month checkup the same day and all is good. Ronan weighs
14lbs and is 26.5 inches long.
Ronan is getting much better at rolling onto
his side and will soon be rolling over. He managed to move himself around
90 degrees the other day in his crib and seemed very proud of himself (kind
of like when he has a big poo!).
Ronan is interacting with his family a lot
more: smiling, babbling and laughing. His facial expressions are quite cute!
The little guy loves to suck on his hands, we are contemplating a soother...
Wednesday, May 16th, 2007
15 weeks old today!
Ronan rolled over for the first time on Monday,
front to back, three times! He has been experimenting with new sounds and
talks quite a bit...it is so adorable! Ronan has also been getting very good
at controlling his hands and is picking up some of his toys now and they are
going straight into his mouth. He picked up his little stuffed Pooh bear today
and sucked on his ear. We have tried giving Ronan a soother because he likes
to suck so much but so far he doesn't seem to like it.
Friday, June 1st, 2007
Ronan turned 4 months old yesterday!!! He
also had his second set of immunizations.
We have gotten Ronan some teething rings
because we think he may be teething and he loves them. He reaches out for
them, holds them very well and sucks/chews on them enthusiastically.
Ronan has been experimenting with his tongue
quite a bit by sticking it out at people and things; sometimes he just leaves
it hanging out the side of his mouth. We call it "crazy tongue"
(there are pictures of this on the baby photos page).

!!!! One Year since I quit smoking !!!!
Sunday, June 17th, 2007
Ronan is now about 41/2 months, 20 weeks
on Wednesday. He ways about 16lbs (so has doubled his birth weight) and is
about 27 inches long. I have probably said this before, but Ronan is very
long and will probably be quite tall!
So much is new with Ronan. He has so many
new sounds and can be quite the chatter box at times! He especially seems
to like babbling to Daddy. Ronan rolled from back to tummy for the first time
today and is becoming a rolling expert: he rolled from tummy to back to tummy
again! When laying on his tummy, Ronan now reaches for his toys and holds
up his chest really well (soon he'll be crawling!). Ronan has also discovered
his feet and although he hasn't actually put them in his mouth yet he grabs
and talks to them often - its really funny!
Monday, July 2nd, 2007
Ronan is 5 months old now!
Ronan has been getting very good at rolling
from back to tummy. He also manages to wiggle and move himself around quite
a bit in the crib and on the floor. Ronan is also a lot more interested in
his environment and is actively reaching for everything he sees as well as
showing a lot of curiosity. He has definite preferences for certain toys (we
think Tigger is his favorite) and certain objects (he loves our yellow breakfast
cups and my laptop)!
Ronan's Great-grandparents came for a visit
on the weekend and I think he really liked that; he gave them lots of smiles!
Thursday, July 12th, 2007
Ronan had a big day today. A family outing
with lots of fresh air, scenery and people. His first food: rice pabulum.
A little bit of water in his sippy cup. A bath. A sleep...
Friday, July 20th, 2007
Well Ronan has had more pabulum. and lots
of poos!
Ronan made a sad face when Mommy had to go
somewhere...so cute!
Ronan giggles and squeels with delight when
Bella does pretty much anything, but he loves it when she pretends to accidentally
drop his toys and when she bounces. When Bella bounces up and down saying
"bouncy, bouncy, bouncy..." so does Ronan and he loves it!!! Just
like tigger...
Saturday, August 4th, 2007
Ronan turned 6 months old on July 31st -
yehhhh Ronan!!! We had a little dinner, cake and gifts for him. We gave him
a stuffed classic Tigger that he seems to just love!
Ronan has barley pabulum. every morning for
breakfast now and really likes it. He has also tried carrots and seemed to
think they are ok. Overall Ronan seems to be very enthusiastic about eating!
For the first time Ronan sat on his own without
falling over for more than a brief period of time, very soon he will be sitting
up all of the time!
Ronan started grabbing his mobile this last
week so sadly we had to take it down.
Thursday, August 16th, 2007
I caught Ronan playing with his shadow recently
and now he knows it's there and looks for it...how cute!!!
In just the last few days Ronan has started
babbling a lot more and stringing different sounds together that sound something
like "ah-ma-ba-da"!
Ronan is eating his oatmeal every morning
now like a pro so there must be some Scottish in there somewhere; as for the
Italian we haven't made it to spaghetti yet but will keep you posted!
It's official, Ronan needs a horse, he is
a bouncing machine!!!
Friday, August 31st, 2007
Ronan is 7 months today! And guess what,
Ronan is getting all four of his front teeth at once. The top right was the
first one to start coming in but shortly after the other three made an appearance.
Ronan seems to be coping fairly well but poor guy is chewing on everything
in sight!
Little Ronan can also sit all by himself
and has been since about the middle of the month. He is also eating very well
having had all of the cereals and vegetables now, we are moving on to fruit!
Ronan is still at the 97th percentile for
height and is now looking a lot like Mommy. His hair is quite light and curly
and his skin is very fair and he has those lovely blue eyes!
Sunday, September 16th, 2007
Ronan is getting very cute & cuddly:
he tips his head to the side in an endearing manor when he wants to be cute
and he gives Mama cuddly hugs!
Ronan has had yogurt now and really liked
it!
Our little man is ready to crawl, inching
forward a bit, cautiously with a hand then a knee then a hand and then plop
he's on his tummy frustrated. But then he is up and trying again!
Last night George was changing Ronan's clothes,
when he was done I just happened to ask him how it went. George said "Great,
it was just like changing five monkeys!"!!!
Wednesday, October 24th
Wow, it has been awhile since I made a journal
entry; time flies when you have an energetic baby!!!
On September 22nd Ronan started crawling
and has not looked back since. He is a fast little guy and moves around the
house like he owns the place. Of course he spends a decent amount of time
each day in his crib and playpen just to keep him safe and his parents sane!
On September 3oth Ronan pulled himself to
a standing position for the first time (in his crib) and he has recently expanded
his show to include climbing up the change table!
Ronan now has 7 teeth!!!
Ronan has tried lots of new foods: creamed
corn, wheat, zucchini, homemade cream of broccoli soup, icecream...
On October 10th, Ronan & Bella's first
cousin Ryker was born!
Ronan has started talking! His first word
was "Mama" on October 14th at only 81/2 months, although oddly enough
he just calls me "Mum"! His next word is "Numnum" which
he says to food! Yesterday he started saying "Nananana" which we
think means "Nononono"! Bella's first words were "Dada"
and "Hi" at about 10 months!
Sunday, October 28th
I know I was just updating here days ago
but there is more to add!!!
Ronan has been talking up a storm. We think
he may have said "Hi Dada" a couple of days ago and just recently
when playing with his ball, he was saying "ba BA" in relation to
the ball!
Ronan has also started waving. He has been
sort of doing it all week but really got the hang of it today and then couldn't
stop waving especially to Daddy - I think Ronan was really proud of himself!
Ronan also did some sharing today, demonstrating
at such a young age what a nice boy he is. He was busy sucking on the tag
on his blanket (favorite past time of his as he seems to love the tags on
things but apparently this is rather common with most babies; one can even
buy baby toys with baby safe tags on them) and then offered the tag to me
which I pretended to suck on and proclaim "numnum" which made him
very happy as he laughed and forced me to suck on his blanket over and over!!!
Monday, October 29th
When Daddy walked in the door from work today,
Ronan looked up at him and clear as a bell said "Dada" ...so cute!
I asked Ronan at one point today if he wanted
to come out of the playpen and see Mama, he said "yaya"!
Friday, January 4th
Wow, it's been a long time since I updated
the journal, what have we been up to; well Ronan has been busy!
Ronan started pulling himself up at the beginning
of November and then was standing on his own for brief periods by the middle
of the month. By the end of the month he was walking all the way along the
couch! By the beginning of December Ronan could stand for long periods on
his own and on New Years day Ronan took two steps on his own!
He started clapping on his own on November
25th and claps every time we say "good boy". Ronan loves to "drive"
his bassinet by bouncing when he is sitting it (and he steers it too!). Ronan
had his first visit with Santa on December 1st.
At his last checkup in the middle of December
we got an update on his weight (21lbs) and length (31").
Some of Ronan's favorite foods: pabulum/porridge,
applesauce, banana, yogurt, cheese, bread, icecream, baby banana cereal, broccoli
& other green veggies!
Tuesday, January 15th
What's new with Ronan:
Ronan has a new word: Horsey (inspired I am sure by the rocking horse he got
for Christmas!)
Ronan has started feeding himself if you give him little bits of food (he
likes cheese, bread, pasta and cereal)!
Ronan also had apple juice for the first time yesterday, yum yum!
And...he identified his first body part, his nose! Ronan has had a bit of
a virus and a very runny nose so a lot of attention has been paid to his nose;
a couple of days ago Daddy said to Ronan "where's your nose?" and
Ronan pointed to it!!!
Monday, January 21st
More new things...
Ronan now knows how to brush his hair with his little blue brush (and Bella's
hair, Daddy's hair, my hair and the horsey's hair and maybe your hair too!!!)
Ronan has been dancing for awhile but lately his dancing has taken on a whole
new style; he gets his whole body into it and really looks like he is enjoying
himself!
On three occasions now Ronan has walked SIX steps in a row!
Just yesterday, Ronan said "diaper" clear as a bell!
Monday, February 4th
RONAN IS ONE YEAR OLD!!!!
Our adorable Ronan turned one year old on January 31st, 2008 and on Saturday,
February 2nd we had a lovely party for him with some close family members.
The theme was...you guessed it "Winnie the Pooh". We had a piñata
in the shape of a ONE, full of candy. We had a lovely winter meal (some of
which Ronan ate) and a Pooh Bear birthday cake. Ronan smeared frosting all
over his hands and face!!! Ronan received some lovely presents and we ended
the party with some fun Pooh Bear treat bags!
Pointing & Nodding...
Ronan has recently learned to point and nod, not necessarily together. He
points at everything asking in his own little one-year-old-way "what
is that?", or sometimes he is just pointing things out. If you ask him
where something is he will point to it.
Now if you ask him specific questions he will nod if it seems agreeable to
him and sometimes he will nod anyway. For example if you ask him if he wants
food or drink of any kind he nods enthusiastically, and if you ask him if
he likes pink or if he has 50,000 pounds of gold he also nods...so cute!
Thursday, February 28th
Ronan has lots of new words, most importantly
his own name! Standing in front of the mirror yesterday he pointed and said
"Rana"! Recently he has also said: "Gigger" (Tigger) and
"Nana" (banana). He says "Uhoh" a lot while dropping things
- it's adorable!!!
Ronan is being very loving lately, giving
lots of big bear hugs and many kisses! He is walking really well and eating
everything in sight!
Saturday, March 29th
What's new with Ronan. Well he is definitely
talking more, some of his new words & phrases: "hi there", "all
done", "tigger", "piglet", "ice cream",
"banana"
Ronan has been very affectionate lately hugging
and kissing his family members frequently. He is also eating very well, three
meals a day and snacks.
Monday, April 21st
Well we just celebrated Isabella's 11th birthday-
Ronan's big sister is becoming a lovely young lady!
Ronan the dancer loves music and in swaying
to "sting" the other day in his crib he managed to rock himself
to sleep (until he fell over in his sleep) - so cute!
Ronan has started colouring recently and
seems to really enjoy it. We bought him some giant crayons and they are lots
of fun.
Ronan's kissing has also advanced lately,
he has been practicing his puckering up frequently on his family members (which
makes it pretty hard to get the most recent cold out of the house!)!
Ronan is also doing very well feeding himself.
At most meals now you can give him his food on a plate or in a bowl along
with a spoon and he can feed himself. His appetite continues to be very good
and he eats pretty much anything he can get his hands on!
I can't believe how much he has grown. He
is so tall and very fair with little curls in the back of his hair! He is
talking more and more and loves playing with Bella. He is such a wonderful
boy!
Tuesday, May 13th
Ronan's newest word is "Elmo" -
we have been watching lots of Sesame Street lately and he loves Elmo!
What else is new: Ronan has his first two
molars, bottom R and top L!!!
Sunday, June 15th
Well, Ronan has 12 teeth now!
New words: mine, up & down, Noodle (Mr.
Noodle from "Elmo's World"), baby, blue
